COR2209. Developing an Industry-Niche CPA Practice

Developing a niche practice is a way firms can distinguish themselves from the competition and achieve more rapid, predictable growth. There are various approaches a firm can use to develop a niche practice including focusing on a specific industry, service line, or market need. The challenge of determining when and how to focus is one that plagues many firms. This is particularly true for generalist firms seeking to build a more vigorous (and profitable) practice.

In this session, Christine Hollinden, CPSM, will help you explore your own niche opportunities, including a proven process designed to select and build a niche practice. We’ll deep dive into the strategy and development of a niche practice including where to begin, best practices for growth, and expectations on timing.

Learning Objectives:

  • Assess how to identify a niche practice area.
  • Differentiate the role of niche practices in firm growth.
  • Evaluate the steps to building a niche.
  • Interpret best practices in growing a niche practice.
  • Formulate expectations for building or expanding a niche practice.
