GOV2330. Mississippi Welfare: The Fraud and the Fallout

In 2020, Mississippians woke to the news that over $90 million in TANF, SNAP, and CCDF funds had been either misspent or embezzled. In what has been called the largest public embezzlement scheme in Mississippi’s history, executive leadership from the MS Department of Human Services along with individuals from two non-profits colluded to defraud the State and Federal government – and stole from the neediest among us. Join members of the audit team who helped discover the fraud as they walk you through how the fraud started and how it ultimately ended.
