Darnell Osborne CPA, CA, Acc. Dir.

Darnell is a Certified Public Accountant. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chartered Accountancy Studies from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Darnell began her career with the public accounting firm Price Waterhouse in 1989. She was licensed to practice under the Georgia State Board of Accountancy in 1991.

In 1993 Darnell joined a local offshore financial services company in the Funds Department. From 1993 to 1998 she was promoted three times and eventually held the position of Executive Director, member of the company's Board of Directors and Money Laundering Reporting Officer. During this period Darnell successfully passed the Canadian Securities Course.

Darnell worked as a consultant for local and Swiss offshore institutions during the period 1998-2000 while the offshore industry was undergoing many challenges and legislative changes. In January 2001, she made a pivotal move by joining a local general insurance company, as Financial Controller and remained there for seventeen years.

Darnell is a member and licensed Chartered Accountant of the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) having served on several sub-committees of the Council over the years. She was first elected to BICA's Council in 2011 and in June 2014, she was elected as President, a position she held until May 2017. Darnell chaired BICA's Legislative Reform Committee from 2013 - 2016, during which time, legislation (BICA Act, 2015) was introduced which transformed the accounting profession. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

In July 2017, Darnell was the first female appointed to Chair the board of Bahamas Power and Light Co. In February 2018, Darnell successfully completed the Chartered Governance Institute of Canada, Directors' Education & Accreditation Programme (DEAP).

Darnell served for 6 years on the Board of St. Andrew's School, the International School of the Bahamas, chairing the School's Finance Committee from 2007-2010. She was also on the board of The Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas from 2008 to 2012. She is a joint owner and director of Family Fun Treats Ltd. which owns and operates the Dairy Queen franchise in the Bahamas with 6 stores in The Bahamas. She previously co- owned Family Fun Pretzels Ltd. which operated as Mr. Pretzels in The Bahamas from 2004 -2014.

In 2019, Darnell founded Citadel Consultants Ltd., a financial services consulting company and serves as its CEO and President.

Darnell is married and the proud mother of two children.
