Swami Venkat is a partner with CohnReznick Advisory specializing in governance, risk, and compliance. He has more than 10 years of professional experience in accounting and internal controls, audit, internal control assessment, lease accounting and SEC/US GAAP reporting. He has served as the project lead in assisting client management implement and maintain Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Sections 302 and 404 compliance programs across various industries including retail, cannabis, manufacturing, financial services, data center operations, and software services.

Swami is highly experienced with the various aspects of the SOX compliance life cycle including performing risk assessments, documenting processes and controls, validating the design and operating effectiveness of key controls, documenting test exceptions and design gaps, working on remediation plans with process owners, rating unremediated exceptions at year end, and working with management in formulating their overall opinion on the internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) for inclusion in the financial statements. His experience includes assessments of business processes and of IT general controls environment.

Swami performs entity-level assessments using the COSO framework in assessing management's tone at the top. He also provides SEC and GAAP advisory services and assists companies in filing their registration/financial statements with the SEC. In this role, he has been involved in writing accounting opinions and reviewing 10-Q/10-K data for consistency and completeness with SEC Regulation S-X and S-K requirements.

Prior to CohnReznick, Swami was with Ernst & Young, American Express, and Citigroup in various managerial capacities.
