Ben is an audit partner in the firm's Not-For-Profit, Higher Education, and Public Sector practices. He provides audit and consulting services to various entities in those industries throughout the country. He has also been a frequent presenter at industry technical training conferences such as: GFOA, GFOA-Texas, AICPA, TSCPA, TACCBO, TASSCUBO, NACUBO, SACUBO, TACCBO and various other technical conferences. Ben has also presented various accounting and auditing topics to students at university campuses throughout the region and served as a guest professor in the University of Texas at Dallas Governance and Entrepreneurship program.

He has served as a member of the AICPA State and Local Government Expert Panel, and as a Special Review Committee Member for the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting program. Ben has also served on various GASB taskforces, including the one responsible for determining the current accounting and reporting requirements for pensions (GASB 67 & 68). Ben is also a former member of the TSCPA Not-For-Profit Conference Committee. He currently serves on the Texas Tech University Accounting Advisory Council, and formerly served in similar roles at Baylor University, Texas A&M, and the University of North Texas. Ben currently serves as the Treasurer for Wingmen Ministries, is a mentor in UNT's Professional Leadership Program and formerly served on various NFP Boards, including Junior Achievement, Dallas Social Venture Partners, the Texas Tech Parent's Association and the Dallas Center for Performing Arts Foundation President's Advisory Council.

Ben started his career in Arthur Andersen's Dallas office, joining the assurance staff immediately after graduating from college. He joined BKD in 2020 after serving as the Regional Government, Not-For-Profit & Higher Education practice leader at Grant Thornton for the past 17 years. Ben has more than 35 years of experience in assurance, including serving as the lead partner on many large, complex engagements. He has also participated in peer reviews of 2 of the Big 4 public accounting firms, as well as various internal office inspections.

He is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas and several other states. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and Texas Society of CPAs.

Ben received a Bachelor of Business Administration Accounting degree from Texas Tech University.
