While pursuing her undergraduate education, Ms. Katz was employed full-time as a controller and then promoted to chief financial officer of a company operating a chain of preschools. In 1994 she relocated to Los Angeles to attend law school. Ms. Katz graduated from with her Juris Doctorate in 1997. After passing the bar that same year, Ms. Katz joined Gursey | Schneider LLP where she is currently a partner in the firm's Litigation Services Department, specializing in the area of forensic accounting in family law and civil litigation matters.

She has performed a wide range of litigation accounting services including: business appraisals, determination of gross cash flow available for support, marital lifestyle analyses, pension plan allocations, stock option apportionments, tracing/characterization of assets, analysis of reimbursement claims, and contract and royalty analyses in the film, television and music industries.

Ms. Katz is a frequent lecturer at various continuing education seminars, including: the Family Law Symposiums of both the Beverly Hills Bar Association [BHBA] and the Los Angeles County Bar Association [LACBA], the California Society of Certified Public Accountants [CalCPA] Family Law Conference, and the joint American Institute of Certified Public Accountants [AICPA] and American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers [AAML] National Divorce Conference. At the aforementioned symposiums and conferences, Ms. Katz has lectured on a multitude of family law topics such as Marital Standard of Living, high income earners and children's reasonable needs analyses, same sex marriages/dissolution and complex cash flow. Ms. Katz currently sits on the planning committee for the CalCPA Family Law Conference. Ms. Katz is a past Chair of the CalCPA Family Law Section, as well as a current member of Family Law Executive Committee for LACBA. Most recently, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Foundation's Forensic & Business Valuation Division admitted Ms. Katz as one of only 28 Charter Members from across the nation. Charter members were selected on the basis of their national reputation, achievements in litigation support, forensic accounting and business valuation, as well as their having a history of serving AAML members and their clients in complex financial matters during divorce proceedings, with a commitment to integrity in that process.

Ms. Katz has authored and co-authored articles on the use of forensic accountants in a marital dissolution, goodwill, and utilizing forensic accountants to analyze pre-and post-nuptial agreements. She has also co-authored two chapters in the book, "Litigation Support Report Writing; Accounting, Finance, and Economic Issues" and also co-authored a chapter in the book, "The BVR/AHLA Guide to Healthcare Valuation" called "Jurisdictional Issues in Physician Practice Divorce Valuation: California (A Community Property State)".
