David Thornton
Mr. Thornton is a partner in the financial services tax group in the New York office of Crowe LLP. He is personally involved with over 50 financial institution clients throughout the United States, ranging from start-up de-novo banks to multi-state public company financial institutions with multi-billion-dollar balance sheets. He works extensively in the areas of strategic tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, financial accounting for income taxes and uncertain tax positions, IRS and state tax examinations and stock-based compensation plans.
Mr. Thornton is an accomplished presenter on financial institution tax matters and has delivered an extensive array of presentations to various national and state banking associations, including: American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) National Conference on Banks & Savings Institutions; Bank Tax Institute (BTI) - annual presenter and board member; Executive Enterprises Institute (as a contract speaker and developer of their Taxation of Financial Institutions conference); Financial Managers Society (FMS); Independent Bankers Association of New York State (IBANYS); Western Independent Bankers (WIB); Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA) Banking Conference; Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers (PACB); and contract speaker at various in-house training seminars.
Mr. Thornton is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and is a graduate of the University of Dayton.
