Chad received his accounting degree from the University of Kansas in 2001 and has provided assurance and business advisory services with firms in the Kansas City area his entire career. Chad is a member of the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants (KSCPA). He served as Chairman of the Board for the KSCPA in 2018 and prior to that served seven years on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the KSCPA. He is also an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and has received the Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) credential from the AICPA. He currently serves on the national Private Company Practice Section (PCPS) Executive Committee as well as the General Council of the AICPA. Additionally, Chad serves on the Board of Directors for the KSCPA Metro Chapter of Kansas City, and is a Past President of the Chapter. Chad was one of 37 individuals selected from across the U.S. for the 2013 AICPA Leadership Academy, and was a member of the 2011 class of the KSCPA's "20 Up To 40" Leadership Program. Along with his wife, Gillian, Chad co-founded the McSwain Foundation, a non-profit created to benefit the Lawrence, KS fire department and community by providing scholarships to dependents and spouses of firefighters. He also served two years as chairman of a fundraising committee for the Gillis Home, a Kansas City non-profit serving 1,600 families each year. Chad is an avid Chiefs, Royals and Jayhawks fan, and spends his free time fishing or working on his boat to go fishing. Chad and his wife Gillian live in Lawrence with their daughter, Callaway, and son, James.
