Ely joined TIAA in 2014 and is currently a Managing Director within the Internal Audit Department. In this role, Ely has audit oversight responsibilities for Client Relationships, Product and Client Services. On a daily basis, she leads a team that develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders by reviewing processes and collaborating on risk mitigation strategies to address key issues impacting the organization. Ely has also made contributions to the Internal Audit strategic initiatives by leading the intern program and serving on the culture committee. Prior to joining TIAA, Ely worked in internal audit at an international transportation company, Horizon Lines, Inc. and her responsibilities spanned across both operational and financial audit engagements, and she was closely involved in the execution of the annual Sarbanes-Oxley assessment. Prior to Horizon Lines, Ely was an auditor at the Office of Inspector General for the Department of Education in San Juan, Puerto Rico performing operational audits over the management of Federal funds at the Puerto Rico Department of Education. Ely has been an active member of the Unite (Latino/Hispanic) Business Resource Group at TIAA, and served as the National Co-Lead for three years and currently supports as a liaison for External Partnerships. Ely is also a board member of the Charlotte Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). She also completed the Mujeres de HACE Program in Fall 2019. She likes to meet new people and coordinate training and networking events. Ely grew up in Puerto Rico and is proud of her Latino/Hispanic background. She loves traveling to Puerto Rico to visit her family and have great food. Ely enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, Bobby, and two daughters - Gabriela (13) and Natalia (10). When she is not working, she is likely at a softball field cheering on one of her daughters. Ely enjoys watching sports and has a goal to visit all major league baseball stadiums with her family.
