Amber MacKenzie works in the Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Policy as an attorney advisor. Her portfolio includes matters related to tax-exempt organizations and charitable contributions.

Ms. MacKenzie’s work has encompassed a broad range of legal, administrative, and policy issues concerning tax-exempt organizations. For example, she has worked on guidance relating to COVID relief, charitable hospitals, colleges and universities, and donor advised funds, and she has assisted with litigation in Tax Court, District Courts, and Appeals courts.

Ms. MacKenzie received both her JD and LLM from Georgetown University Law Center, where she held positions of leadership in the International Law Journal and on the student bar association.

Ms. MacKenzie is on the steering committee of the D.C. Bar Taxation community and former chair of the Exempt Organizations subcommittee.
