As a manager in the AICPA's Professional Ethics Division, Melissa is responsible for investigating allegations of noncompliance with accounting and auditing standards, primarily, in the audits of state and local governments and not-for-profit entities that are often also subject to Government Auditing Standards and Uniform Guidance. In addition to her role in enforcement, she also works on standard setting and member enrichment projects and serves on the ethics hotline, providing guidance to those interested in ethics and independence issues.

Prior to joining the Division in 2015, Melissa was a manager at a public accounting firm in Raleigh, NC, working on audits of state and local governments, not-for-profit entities, commercial entities, and employee benefit plans. Melissa is a certified public accountant in the state of North Carolina and a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.
