SETH R. FREEMAN, CIRA, CTP, Managing Director, based in San Francisco has over 35 years of experience in a variety of roles, including Chief Restructuring Officer, Financial Advisor to Unsecured Creditor Committees, Financial Advisor to hedge funds and ultra-high net worth individuals and family offices; Investment Banker; and fiduciary roles including Federal Receiver, Assignee, Independent Director, Responsible Person, Post Confirmation Administrator. He is a co-leader of B. Riley Advisory Services' Cannabis and Hemp Business and Restructuring Practice. Seth has 40 years extensive experience in all aspects of real estate as principal investor, general partner, investment banker and distressed assets. His restructuring engagements have included several of the largest fraud and Ponzi schemes in U.S. history. Seth has over 25 years' cross-border emerging markets consulting experience, working for U.S. and local market investors, creditors and families in Mexico, Central and South America, India, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Greece and the UAE. His emerging markets work includes underperforming businesses and real estate projects, fund management, distressed debt and cross-border insolvency. He has served as interim president of Dane Sea Lines, an insolvent Piraeus-Rhodes ferry operator; and as replacement LLC manager of Ponzi scheme-like US airplane investment companies with aircraft leased to an insolvent Argentine airline, where he assisted the US investors in obtaining a $4.3m jury verdict against the promoter and sustain IRS investment theft-loss deductions. Seth is a Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) and Certified Turnaround Practitioner (CTP). He earned an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird, the Global School of Management. He is a director of the Bay Area Bankruptcy Forum, past member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) CTP Oversight Committee, Director and Officer of the TMA Northern California Chapter and Chairman of the Editorial Board of the TMA Journal of Corporate Renewal. Seth is an active member of the International Committee of the American Bankruptcy Institute and INSOL International and a past panelist of the ABI International Insolvency Seminar. He has been an invited speaker at numerous professional events and leading MBA programs at Harvard, NY Stern, Columbia, Wharton, Chicago Booth and Berkeley Haas. He has served as a start-up judge at India's prestigious India Institute of Management in Bangalore, Nagpur and Kolkata and featured over 250 times on business news channels including Bloomberg and CNBC in the U.S., Hong Kong and India.
