Christina Karahalios is the Chief Financial and Operating Officer at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria NY. In her role at Museum of the Moving Image, she oversees operations, finance, technology, building services, security, visitor services and human resources, and overall strategic planning for the organization's mission. She specializes in nonprofits risk and financial management, as well as strategic planning. Christina's first job out of college was the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum where she began her career in the finance department leading the budgeting department. Fast forward 10 years later, Christina led the operations and finance department for the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi project, a large scale new development of over 320,000 square feet on Saadiyat island. After the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Christina turned her attention to the NYC contemporary art gallery world. She oversaw multiple galleries across NY and LA, and at one point, erecting a new commercial building over 30,000 square feet from the ground up along the way. Christina has a bachelor's degree in art history from Pace University, and a master's degree in international business from the New School. Christina also has her certificate in Construction Project Management. For volunteering, she has served as Executive Committee member and Treasurer for eight years at an elementary school in Brooklyn and volunteered at the Brooklyn Outreach and Time In Kids. She is also a member of Chief, a woman community of executive leaders. She enjoys her time with her family - husband, three children and dog. She enjoys everything NYC has to offer but also loves to travel. Christina was born and raised in NY from both Hispanic and Greek descent.
