Messer, A Sulphur Springs native, has been employed by the American National Bank of Texas for more than 40 years. He currently serves as the Bank's Senior Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer. As Chief Financial Officer, Messer oversees the management of the balance sheet and income statement. He is responsible for many corporate activities including strategic planning, mergers, and acquisitions. Messer's responsibilities also include ensuring that The American National Bank has a sound process that keeps the Bank strategically focused. As Chief Risk Officer, he oversees processes that ensure the organization balances its risks in such a way to optimize its revenue opportunities. Prior to becoming Chief Financial Officer, he served as the Bank's Chief Credit Officer. EDUCATION: A 1979 graduate of Texas A & M, Messer also has an MBA from East Texas State University, now Texas A & M Commerce and has attended the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking where he was the President of Class XXX. Robert is a Certified Public Accountant.
