Koechner owns a CPA firm  specializing in forensic accounting, tax compliance and digital assets. Koechner spent more than 11 years at the FBI investigating complex financial crimes, digital assets, public corruption, cyber and crypto crimes, and transnational organized crimes. Koechner received the guardian of justice and was nominated for the Director's award for outstanding case work associated with cases involving complex financial crimes. Koechner served as the crime scene photographer and drone pilot on the evidence response team and was a member of the virtual currency response team. Prior to joining the Bureau, Koechner worked in the big four public accounting space for 8 years specializing in private equity, hedge fund and high net worth individuals. Koechner previously served in the United States Marine Corps while attending the University of Missouri.  Koechner also teaches a forensic accounting and tax class at a local university.
