Robert Adamczyk

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)

Robert is a Board Member of the Polish Forum Odpowiedzialnego Biznesu and a Senior Environmental Advisor within the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD, Environment and Sustainability Department. He is the Energy Team Lead and focal point for ESG and Performance Requirement 3. As part of the Bank’s mandate, Robert is involved in project appraisals and due diligence. He is member of the EC Platform for Sustainable Finance and represented the Bank on the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD). He has helped to develop the 2021 and 2023 Warsaw Stocks Exchange ESG disclosure and reporting guideline and is working on similar Stock Exchange ESG disclosure guidance in Czech Republic and Romania. He is an a member of the EFRAG Expert Group developing ESRS standards for pollution and biodiversity under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

Robert has extensive experience of environmental issues in industry and power sector in Bank’s Countries of operations. He has worked on developing the Responsible Steel standard and with the WBC SCI (Sustainable Cement Initiative) on guidance for ESIA and biodiversity management plans. He holds a degree from Kings College London and an MSc from Imperial College London (Environmental Technology). Prior to joining the EBRD in 2004, he was a Director and Head of the Environment Division of Atkins Europe based in Poland. Robert is an active member of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management), member of RICS and member of the United Nations Convention on Migratory Species Energy Task Force (UN CMS EFT) – among others developed the post-monitoring guidance for the wind sector jointly with IFC and KfW. He has been elected and served as chairperson of the EBRD Staff/Works Council for 8 years.
