Wendy Punches

Managing Director

Wendy Punches is a Managing Director in PwC's San Jose Office. She has 20+ years of experience serving a diverse set of clients, ranging from multinational Fortune 500 companies to VC backed start-ups. For the past 15 years, she has worked with leading corporations, developers and investors on tax issues relating to the construction and deployment of low carbon technologies.

As a leader in PwC's ESG and Federal Tax Teams, she advises clients on tax credits, transaction structuring issues, and renewable energy deployment strategies. She is the firm's expert on IRA and for the past year has been advising companies throughout the country on how to create tax efficient decarbonization strategies and optimize benefits.​ Prior to the IRA, she advised companies on the production tax credit, the investment tax credit, and the Section 1603 Grant in Lieu of Tax Credits program regarding issues related to cost segregation, property eligibility, cost basis, accounting methods, the "begun construction" requirements, single project determination, "look-through" and various placed in service matters.

Wendy also advises clients regarding ASC 740-10 (formerly FIN 48) and ASC 740 (formerly FAS 109), statutory compliance filings, and has significant experience representing taxpayers before the Service/U.S. Treasury (including audit, appeals, and special I.R.S. resolution products including Fast Tract Mediation and CAP).

Wendy graduated cum laude from the University of San Francisco School of Law, and holds a Bachelor of Science cum laude from Cal Poly, SLO. She is an active member of the California Bar Association.
