Stephanie Cárdenas

Senior Manager, Sustainability & ESG Services
Deloitte & Touche LLP

Stephanie is an Audit & Assurance senior manager in the Sustainability & ESG Services team. Throughout a career marked by strategic leadership and innovative thinking, she has advised companies on ways to transform their dependencies on nature and biodiversity and manage risks, turning them into opportunities.

As the leader for the Audit & Assurance Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) team’s Nature service offering, Stephanie advises clients on ways to align their profitability with purpose, and clarifies how their relationships with land, water, forests, and biodiversity are often inextricably linked to the sustainability of their business and to their nature, climate, and social goals.

In her current role, she advises clients on geographic scoping assessments; nature-related impacts and dependencies inventories and analyses; nature-related risks and opportunity assessments; nature disclosure gap assessments, roadmaps, and data process & controls readiness solutions; and nature positive-strategy workshops, among other services for clients at varying stages of their nature-positive journey. She understands the important role that technology can play – from geospatial tools to artificial intelligence to manage enterprise risk and increase operational efficiencies.

Stephanie has over 12 years of experience providing advisory services relating to clients’ ESG journeys, including strategy development and materiality assessments, and in complying with global disclosure standards and regulations. In her former role as the Global Manager for the Forests and Land team for CDP (formerly known as Carbon Disclosure Project), she advised companies on how to decouple deforestation from corporate supply chains.

Beyond client service, Stephanie upholds her legacy of thought leadership through her involvement with the Taskforce for Nature-Related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) on considerations related to sector guidance development, and leverages her extensive experience in advising clients in their nature-related risks and opportunities management.

Stephanie holds a Masters in Green Management, Energy, & Corporate Social Responsibility from Università Bocconi in Milan, Italy, and speaks Spanish, English, and Italian.
