Michael Lavelle is a managing director of Appraisal Economics Inc., responsible for supervising and performing valuations of business interests, securities, and intangible assets. He performs valuations for financial reporting, tax compliance, and solvency and fairness issues. Mr. Lavelle has worked on numerous litigation and arbitration cases, and he has testified as an expert witness in United States Tax Court, in deposition, and in binding arbitration. Mr. Lavelle has performed analyses of intangible assets including: advertiser and subscriber relationships, copyrights, domain names, goodwill, non-compete agreements, patents, proprietary technology, software, trademarks, and trade names. Mr. Lavelle is an adjunct professor of finance at The College of New Jersey and is a published author. Mr. Lavelle earned a Master of Business Administration, with Distinction, from New York University, where he specialized in finance. Mr. Lavelle received a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a minor concentration in finance from The College of New Jersey, where he attended on a full academic scholarship. Mr. Lavelle is an accredited senior member of the American Society of Appraisers, with credentials in both Business Valuation and Intangible Assets. He is a past President of the board of the local chapter of the ASA. Mr. Lavelle holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst, and he is a member of the CFA Institute and the New York Society of Security Analysts.
