Benny Herman, CPA, is an assurance director in the audit practice at CohnReznick. As a director in charge of audits for the manufacturing and distribution (including cannabis) practice with extensive experience serving private equity portfolio companies, he is responsible for all stages of the audit process including planning, fieldwork, wrap up and the preparation of financial statements with disclosures. His other duties include leading, training and supervising staff associates, as well as documenting, validating and designing tests to assess internal control systems.

Benny has more than 25 years of diversified accounting experience, and has concentrated primarily on the cannabis industry over the last 4 years. He has served clients, ranging in size from startups to large multinational companies, across various industries, including manufacturing and distribution, technology, fintech, construction, and professional services. Benny has advised companies in various industries from the start-up phase through initial and multiple rounds of private equity investment to a public exit through a SPAC transaction, and provided strategic assistance in developing financial reporting packages, identifying key performance metrics and navigating complex financing and acquisition transactions.

Benny has experience with complex accounting issues, including ASC 606-Revenue and ASC 842-Leases, share-based compensation, warrants, debt instruments, fair value techniques, business combinations, goodwill and intangible asset impairment. He also has extensive experience guiding clients through mergers and acquisitions and ownership transitions.
