Michael has been Armanino's Chief Auditor since 2023 and works remotely out of Atlanta, GA. Before joining Armanino, Michael worked for PwC's Trust practice and National office - Assurance Service group where he spent 12 years. He received his dual B.S. in accounting and finance from Georgia State University in 2010 and has been in the practice of public accounting since graduation. During those years he has been involved in all aspects of public accounting with an emphasis in providing accounting, audit, and review services to clients in the financial services sectors including banks, asset management and insurance companies. Since joining the quality function of PwC and Armanino, Michael's specific responsibilities included, but were not limited:

  • Designing and implementing policies and procedures, including creating the firm's public and non-public company audit manuals. The audit manuals were in written in plain English, easy to understand manner, with lots of examples, FAQs, and additional guidance on certain key assurance topics such as testing internal controls, auditing data, using specialist, sampling, auditing revenue, etc.
  • Designing and implementing a quality control consultation process for all Trust engagements on complex assurance topics, internal controls issues, accounting, and financial reporting matters. The firm's QC consultants were trained to perform technical research and collaborate effectively to identify and resolve issues/concerns in an environment with tight deadlines. The consultation process ensured continuous improvement in the quality of work and provided the firm with an effective monitoring process.
  • Designing and implementing a QC process which effectively monitored the compliance with professional licensing and continuing professional education requirements.
  • Collaborating with the firm's leadership in the creation of an operating model with a focus on using Centers of Excellence and Acceleration Centers in India.
  • Collaborating and attending expert panels with other firm's national offices on various topical meetings.
  • Collaborating with the firm's leadership in assessing different independence systems and designing and implementing an effective QC system of policies and procedures which ensure the firm's independence of its assurance clients.
  • Designing and implementing a process where QC consultants supports teams throughout the PCAOB, SEC, Peer review, and DOL inspection process with advanced preparation, on-site assistance, and support with inspection findings and remediation.

Michael currently lives in Atlanta, GA with his wife and two kids. He enjoys his time outside of the office with his family enjoying outdoor sporting activities, mountain biking, and traveling to new countries.
