
Dan Cherwin
Dan Cherwin is an audit partner in Crowe's Real Estate Industry Group. Dan has approximately twenty years of experience with SEC reporting, compliance and auditing of real estate companies, with a concentration on serving public and private REITs, private equity real estate investment funds/advisors, and real estate operating companies.
Dan counsels clients on the accounting impact of significant transactions as well as reporting requirements and emerging accounting and regulatory authoritative guidance. He has extensive experience with mergers and acquisitions, fair value accounting and reporting, lease accounting, and goodwill and long-lived asset impairment accounting, among other technical topics.
Clients served include a diverse range of real estate subsectors: healthcare, office, retail, education, storage, manufactured housing, industrial, multi-family, hospitality, and triple-net leasing. Dan serves as a Crowe central region real estate subject matter expert, regularly assisting client-serving teams with real estate accounting & reporting matters. In this role, Dan also leads internal trainings and presents topical matters at external industry events. Prior to joining Crowe, Dan was an audit partner at Grant Thornton and an audit senior manager at Ernst & Young.
