Stephen Huxley
Stephen is the Director of Research and Founding Partner of Asset Dedication, LLC. He taught as a full time Professor at the University of San Francisco School of Management 1973-2024. His courses included Business Analytics, Decision Science, Operations Management, and Analytics of Personal Finance at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. In 1988, he won INFORM’s National Franz Edelman Award for Outstanding Achievement in Management Science for his work in patrol officer scheduling for the San Francisco Police Department. It is the highest award given within the analytics profession. He has also received awards from the university for teaching, research, and service. His research has been published in academic journals, trade journals, and international conferences.
In addition to his work in personnel scheduling, he has also consulted on projects related to productivity and quality improvement for the California Public Utilities Commission, and statistical process control systems in the manufacturing industry. He began to apply his scheduling research to investment strategies in the late 1990’s using dedicated portfolio theory. This work ultimately led to the book Asset Dedication: How to Grow Wealthy with the Next Generation of Asset Allocation (McGraw-Hill, 2004), which he co-authored with Brent Burns. The TAMP they started together to help personal financial advisors now manages several billion dollars in AUM.
Stephen holds a doctorate in economics from the University of California at San Diego and an undergraduate degree in business and statistics from Ohio State University.
