Laura Schuetze
Laura is a partner in Grant Thornton's Assurance Quality and Risk Group (AQR) where she leads firm matters associated with external standard-setting activities. She focuses on firm participation in standard-setting boards and committees as well as the development of firm methodology and training on a variety of audit and attestation topics.
In May 2024, Laura was appointed to the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the senior technical committee that sets attest standards for non-issuer engagements. Prior to joining the ASB, Laura served as technical advisor to the firm’s previous board members. In addition to participating in and monitoring national standard-setting activities, she leads the firm’s adoption of new or revised audit and attestation standards, including the development of related firm policies and guidance. Laura consults with engagement teams on the application and interpretation of audit and attestation standards, including external reporting matters.
Prior to joining AQR in 2013, Laura was a member of the firm’s audit practice for over eight years. Laura’s client service experience included audits of public and privately-held entities, primarily in the manufacturing, distribution, and technology sectors. In addition to audit services, she worked with privately-held entities to assist them in navigating accounting requirements and internal controls.
