Brian Simpson has served his clients for over 30 years in the areas of corporate and partnership taxation. He specializes in income tax accounting, where he serves as the lead principal in the firm's Tax Accounting Services and leads the corporate income tax practice of Baker Tilly’s Texas business unit.

Brian offers technical support to audit teams and clients around ASC 740 and related tax controls. He has extensive experience assisting clients in structuring and planning transactions, as well as mergers and acquisitions. Additionally, he has helped his clients navigate accounting method changes and IRS representation. His clients range from closely held entities to large publicly traded companies, including Fortune 500 companies.

Brian co-authored “Navigating the tax accounting impacts of the CARES Act,” published in The Tax Adviser in October 2020. He also presented on the topic ASU 2023-09, Income Taxes (Topic 740): Improvements to Income Tax Disclosures at AICPA’s A&A Focus Webcast Series. Furthermore, he has taught various courses on ASC 740 and corporate taxation for Baker Tilly, TEI, and GoSystems.
