JULIEANN VERREKIA, CPA JulieAnn Verrekia is the Director of Quality for Torrillo and Associates, LLC, a Philadelphia area public accounting firm that specializes in audits of employee benefit plans. Julie has over thirty-five years of experience in accounting and auditing, specializing in employee benefit plans. Since 2007, Julie has been involved with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in the development and update of numerous employee benefit plan accounting and auditing publications and projects which includes the annual Employee Benefit Plan Audit Guide. She has authored numerous articles and instructed courses on employee benefit plan accounting and auditing topics. Julie was appointed to the Employee Benefit Plans Committee of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) in 2009.She is a frequent presenter at the annual PICPA and AICPA Employee Benefit Plans Conferences on topics including Employee Benefit Plan Accounting and Auditing Updates, Statement on Auditing Standards No. 145, Understanding the Entity and Its Environment and Assessing the Risks of Material Misstatement, Audit Quality Matters and the Use of SOC 1 Reports in an Employee Benefit Plan Audit. She is a former Managing Director of the employee benefit plan practice in the Philadelphia office of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) LLP. Julie also has experience with SSAE 18 engagements and audits of registered investment companies. Julie received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, summa cum laude, from Widener University. She is a certified public accountant in the States of Pennsylvania and Florida and is a member of the PICPA and the AICPA.
