Scott is a partner in KPMG's Department of Professional Practice (DPP) and former Practice Fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) with extensive experience in technical accounting and reporting matters.

As a partner in DPP, Scott is the accounting standards group leader for leasing (under US GAAP and IFRS), long-lived assets, internal-use software, and cryptocurrency/digital assets. Scott is a core member of the national office project teams producing firm guidance and supporting implementation of the new revenue recognition, lease accounting and cloud computing standards. Scott's publications include KPMG's handbooks on lease accounting, software/SaaS and general revenue recognition, and Hot Topics on accounting for cloud computing arrangements. Scott is a frequent speaker/presenter at accounting conferences and on webcasts.

As a FASB practice fellow, Scott was technical lead on the FASB's leases project (ASU 2016-02), as well as the new revenue recognition standard projects on licensing and identifying performance obligations (ASU 2016-10) and gross versus net [principal vs agent] revenue reporting (ASU 2016-08). Scott also led the project on customers' accounting for fees paid in a cloud computing arrangement (ASU 2015-05) and was a key staff member supporting the FASB/IASB Revenue Recognition Transition Resource Group (TRG).

Prior to joining KPMG's national office, Scott led the technical accounting and SEC reporting functions at a large public software company and worked within KPMG's Technical Accounting Advisory Services and Audit groups.
