Crystal Allen

CPA, CDFM
CEO & VP of Tax and Accounting Services
A Total Solution CPA & Consulting Services, Inc.

With a heart of a servant leader, Crystal Allen has leveraged her technical expertise in the discipline of accounting into measurable results which have impacted positive change across government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and small businesses.

In 2005, Crystal established A Total Solution (“ATS”) Bookkeeping & Consulting Services with close colleague, Jessilyn Overstreet with two guiding beliefs:  1) that solid operational foundations unlock growth and meaningful impact; and 2) the accounting field should offer real opportunity within a culture where people can show up as their whole selves.  This vision gave birth to the firm.  Then in 2008, ATS Bookkeeping become A Total Solution CPA & Consulting Services, Inc., a full-service CPA firm that provides assurance, accounting, tax, and consulting services to clients in Indiana and across the country.  Over the last 20 plus years Crystal and Team ATS have supported and advised countless nonprofits, allowing them to focus on the execution of their programs in support of missions that included fair housing, social justice, youth empowerment, emergency and epidemic preparedness, rehabilitation and re-entry support for the previously incarcerated and so many more worthy causes.  The firm's work with small business owners across various industries reflects an understanding that a comprehensive approach which includes training and advisement is vital to ensuring small businesses are best positioned for both operational sustainment and economic growth.  Crystal is also proud of the firm’s work across both federal and state and local governments where the team has focused on both regulatory compliance and the efficient use of the government’s resources.  This work underscores Crystal’s and the collective team’s belief that together, ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things!

In addition to her work through the firm, Crystal has taught as an adjunct professor and served as a frequent guest lecturer to both aspiring and existing entrepreneurs.  Crystal also takes her role as community advocates very seriously and has served on several nonprofit boards and on the City of Indianapolis-Marion County Audit Committee. She also assists in shaping generally accepted accounting principles for both federal and state and local government through her work on the Association of Government Accountants’ Financial Management Standards Board in advisement of both the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board and the Government Accountant Standards Board. Crystal also uses her resources and platform to supports the AICPA’s LGBTQ+ Initiatives Committee where she works to amplify voices of the LGBTQ+ community across the accounting profession.

Crystal is married to the love of her life, Judge Noell Allen and has two children, Elon and Emaan.
