Julie Verrekia, CPA, has over 35 years of experience in accounting and auditing, specializing in employee benefit plans. Since 2007, Julie Verrekia, CPA, has been contracted by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in the development and update of numerous employee benefit plan accounting and auditing publications and projects which includes the annual AICPA Audit and Accounting Guide, Employee Benefit Plans. She has also authored numerous articles, webinars and presentations on employee benefit plan accounting and auditing topics. From 2009 to 2025, Julie was the Director of Quality at Torrillo and Associates, LLC, a Philadelphia area public accounting firm that specialized in audits of employee benefit plans. As the firm's Director of Quality she was responsible for quality management, peer review and technical accounting and auditing compliance and engagement quality reviews. Julie was appointed to the Employee Benefit Plans Committee of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) in 2009. She is a frequent presenter at the annual PICPA and AICPA Employee Benefit Plans Conferences. Julie is a former Managing Director of the employee benefit plan practice in the Philadelphia office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Julie also has experience with SSAE 18 engagements and audits of registered investment companies and similar investment funds. Julie received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting graduating summa cum laude, from Widener University. She is a certified public accountant in the States of Pennsylvania and Florida and is a member of the AICPA and the PICPA.
